      Title:
      One to many
      Summary:

      Here's the scenario:

      • We have a "Programs" database table set up where general program information is contained. One of the fields in this database is a Program Coordinator field which is a link to another database table containing a list of all of our Program Coordinators.  When adding a new program, I can simply select the Program Coordinator from the list that appears, and it populates the field with that Coordinator's name.
      • But, what if there is more than one Program Coordinator (which happens every once in a while)?  Ideally, I would be able to configure the field to select a Coordinator from the list; then, be able to add another Coordinator from the list, with the result listing both names in the field.  Then, in theory, I would be able to add one or more of the remaining Coordinators until I have used all of the Coordinators in the list.

Is Track Via capable of doing this?

      Thanks.

    • A "link to parent" field can only link to one record in the parent database but you can have multiple link to parent fields in the Programs database.  Just go to the edit database screen, select link to parent from the field chooser, give it a name of Program Coordinator 2 and link it to the coordinators database.

    • Thanks for the comment!  I was hoping for a method to be able to link multiple records into one field in the database, mainly to keep the number of fields in this database to a minimum.

Additionally, it would be nice to have a feature/option where once you select an item from a "link to parent", that option goes away for other records that you're adding. For instance, I have an overview database table where I keep track of programs by their unique number.  In another table I am tracking certain aspects of the programs and, therefore, I set up a link to the unique program ID number to help reference.  In this situation, it would be nice if, once I have selected the program number from the drop down, it would no longer appear in the drop down list of selections for future records. This will become even more relevant once more and more programs are added to the list, as it could become quite lengthy.

Anyway, I guess this would be a feature request.  I appreciate your response!
