    Feature:
    Alerts have gotten even better
    Summary:

With Alerts being used everyday by many of our customers to track work flow and appointments we have made some enhancements to this feature to improve its use with these type of projects. You'll find these enhancements by clicking on the "more options" link towards the bottom when setting or editing an alert.

With any alert you set up you can now set a custom subject on the email that is sent that can even include fields from the database to indicate what needs to be done.  For Example:  if you have an alert which emails your billing department supervisor each time a new expense report comes in you can now have the subject of the email say "Susie filed a new expense report you must approve or deny".  With this possibility the recipients of the email can now be told exactly why they are receiving an email alert and what they need to do to the record.

You can also now remove the actual details of the record if you would like to get a simple email that alerts you to a change.  This is for those cases where a simple alert is sufficient or when you want to not send the information from your database to the recipient.

With many customers using TrackVia for storing appointments we have been asked if this could be made to integrate into Outlook and we're happy to say that this is also now available.  When setting an alert you will now see an option to include a calendar attachment.  This really only makes sense in databases you are storing appointments because it will require a date or date and time field to use for creating the calendar entry.  With this enabled you will receive an attachment with the alert that when saved will create an entry in your Outlook calendar that will use the first date or date and time field as the time for the appointment.  For Example: if you have a database of appointments you can use alerts to notify each person when an appointment is made for them that will include a calendar attachment which allows them to easily add this to their Outlook or Google calendar with a click of a button.

These were both enhancements made based off of feedback received from current customers and we'd appreciate any other suggested enhancements.

If you're an administrator on a account you can now manage all alerts whether you are subscribed to them or not through the Manage Alerts link.

Wow, I can't believe I didn't notice this feature before.

One question:  in a table with multiple date/time fields, how do I choose which one it goes to?

This will always use the first date or date/time field in the table.  To rearrange a field to be the first date you will edit the table and use the green arrows to the left to drag and drop this above another date field.

I set this up and it came to my email.  I tried to save it so it would appear on my outlook calendar and it did not appear. Please Advise

You will get a .ics attachment with your alert and then will need to open this and accept the meeting for it to appear on your calendar.

The problem i have now is that i recieve the outlook meeting invites on my blackberry, which, when accepted should automatically saves on my calendar.

But for some reason it says that my phone does not support your attachment, with this not functioning, i can not even view the alert on my phone.

If i send myself an meeting invite from outlook it works fine, but not from your attachment, Please advise.

From the emails we received from you we're pretty sure this is just a misunderstanding on how this feature works, please contact us if you do not understand our email reply.
