Selecting a "link to parent" is now search-based!

Our "link to parent" fields are now search-based!  Previously they were drop-down lists.  We implemented this change to improve both ease of use and TrackVia's system performance.  Regarding ease of use, in apps where a parent table has hundreds or thousands (or yes, hundreds of thousands) of records, a drop-down list was simply unusable.  Providing this functionality through search makes it much quicker and easier to find and select the right parent record.

Here are some highlights of the new link to parent design.

• TrackVia will display the first 10 options by default.
• As you type in the search box, TrackVia will automatically update the results.  With each additional character you add to your search, you'll see the results become fewer and more accurate.
• Your search can match any part of the parent record.  In other words, if you're searching for John Smith you can type Smith and TrackVia will find John Smith for you.
• If you need to clear a link to parent selection, just click the eraser icon.
• You can drag the search box around the screen to reposition it.
