Responsibilities

As an Engineering Consultant, you would join TrackVia’s newest team, thus you’ll have a unique opportunity to shape the role and define the process. Specifically, you will be responsible for consulting with customers, implementing custom features and integrating 3rd party software with the Trackvia platform. You’ll be the go between for our users, the implementation team and the engineering department. As an Engineering Consultant you will:

  • Work with customers and the implementation team to understand business requirements.
  • Determine the scope of work for new projects. We want someone who has the experience and confidence to estimate the complexity and resource requirements for projects.
  • Design solutions based on business requirements and resource constraints. Often leveraging open source and third party software.
  • Develop, test, and document custom features and integrations. You’ll work across multiple languages and systems, but primarily Node.js and some Groovy. You will own and support this code, so make it elegant, scalable, and maintainable. Some of these projects will be open sourced to support our community.
  • Train customers and our support team on the solutions you develop.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Team to ensure solutions are leveraging the built-in functionality of the platform, and are designed to be performant and scalable.
  • Work with the Product Team to look for commonalities amongst your projects to determine if new features should be added to our platform.

 

About You

We’re looking for an outgoing, independent, top notch developer who thrives in an ever changing environment and enjoys making an immediate impact on customers. Specifically we are looking for:

  • B.S. or B.A. in Computer Science or other related degree is required
  • Experience in Node.js and Groovy a plus, but we believe that strong developers can learn any language quickly
  • Lots of experience working with API’s and RESTful services
  • Strong software design experience. We want someone who understands design principles and when to apply them
  • Able to select * your way through a relational databases
  • Web development experience
  • Working knowledge of Unix / Linux systems
  • Working knowledge of Git
  • Excellent written communications: clarity, brevity, grammar
  • An outgoing, patient, customer centric individual with excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Professionalism: promptness, attention to detail, organization
  • Contributing to open source projects a plus
  • Working knowledge of Bootstrap or other responsive framework is a plus
  • Experience with the AWS ecosystem a plus
    • Especially writing AWS lambdas
